Talk to Me, Like Babies Do...

Aud is making all kind of noises these days - and some of the time it sounds like she's trying to talk to us. We were both sitting in her room tonight saying hi to her, and she responded multiple times with noises that resembled "hi." We caught this little squeak on video. She also got to hear her dad break out the harmonica for the first time - she provided accompaniment on vocals. We're hoping to start her musical career soon so mom and dad (mostly dad) can quit their jobs, become her agent, and live on their dreams of pop-stardom through their child.

Audrey at 4 Months

Today Audrey is officially 4 months old. She celebrated the day by waking up at 3:30 am with a dirty dipe then slept with mom and dad. Within just 4 months, she can smile, laugh out loud (when dad coughs or when tickled), stand with support, sit-up with support, reach and grab for her toys, talk to herself in the mirror (not sure if she thinks it is herself or another baby), knows her parents and grandparents, knows her name, "sing" when being sung too, and is trying so hard to say "hi". Also at 4 months, our little widge is wearing size 6-9 months clothes. We find out tomorrow at her doctor's appointment just how much she has grown since July (I'm guessing she's about 16 lbs now?) I know it is so cliché sounding, but the last 4 months has just flown by... I can hardly believe it!

Splish Splash

This past weekend Audrey went swimming for the first time -- I regret that my batteries died on the way to the pool, but I was able to get a shot of her in her itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny, yellow-polka-dot suit (not bikini). She did very well in the pool (I was a little surprised with just how well she was doing, she didn't seem to mind it at all). Dave and Viv soon met up with us at the pool -- Viv swims like a fish and has no fear of water (she was doing her "floats" under-water, pretty-funny). Audrey was content just watching her cousin paddling around while she was sampling the chlorinated water. Dan skipped out on the pool in hopes to see the Ducks beat Idaho State... better luck next time!

Fluffy Chick and Friends

Audrey loves to read and be read to! This is one of her all-time favs... if you have yet to read this best-seller of a book, I highly recommend it (the plot is some-what complex, but the character development is quite note-worthy).

Flood Family Singers

Daddy Time

Audrey gets a little daddy time in on the weekend...she likes to sing with him. Some of her favorites include Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Neil Young, and the Flood Family Singers (aka Julie and Dan originals).

A Hard Day's Night

Last week, Dan took our other child to the vet for his routine shots and a much needed teeth-cleaning. Finn is not a fan of going to the vet (obviously) so they had to give him some anesthesia. Finn still isn't all that interested in Audrey, but Audrey is becoming a lot more interested in him as well as other things. This past week she discovered her hands and likes to stare at those a lot, moving them back and forth -- it's pretty funny to watch. She also loves to try to eat her hands (but, doesn't everyone?)

Audrey had her first sleep-over last night at Grandma and Grandpa Flood's -- Dan and I were close by and eventually went back to their house to sleep after the evening's festivities. I did well on my first night out without her, Dan was a little more apprehensive :) All in all, we had a good time celebrating summer's end with the Bayer family and the soon eviction of Pearl (Kylie's benign tumor that will be removed October 1st!)

Back in the Saddle Again

I can't believe that it is already September. Audrey has been a busy girl playing in her Jump-a-roo, going to Eugene, hanging out with the grandparents and going to the zoo. She was more interested in napping than seeing the animals, but I had a fun time with my friend Kelley and her 2 year-old, Bubba (Kevin). We went the week before the baby elephant was put on display, but, it was still very crowded for a Thursday. The Flood family also went down to Eugene a few weeks ago to see Uncles and Aunties. As much as we'd love to take Audrey to her first Duck game at Autzen, I think we're going to wait a couple years (an infant or even a toddler in that type of environment does not sound like a good idea on many levels). So, we've been watching the past two games in the comforts of home where Audrey can eat when she pleases and dipes can be changed without having to ask people to get up off their seats.

Audrey and I have gotten spoiled in enjoying Dad's/Dan's company on Monday and Tuesday evenings that past couple of weeks -- school starts back up this week for him, final term! Easy for me to say, but I can't believe how fast it's gone by. I have had the pleasure of going back in at work to do some temp work -- I feel a little guilty with just how much I enjoy being back there and working with my old co-workers. I am able to go home to feed the babe at lunchtime, and the rest of the day is spent with Grandma Sondra (who is in 7th Heaven this month babysitting both granddaughters each week).
